I was hired by HVR Software from the Netherlands to create it's corporate identity, branded collateral, website, and digital and printed marketing content. As an industry leader in big data management, they wanted a strong mark that communicated technology, performance and real-time data replication capability.
A comprehensive study was done which explored these concepts and others, including the "three Vs" (velocity, volume, and variety), movement, and sharing. The color scheme focused on orange as a more energetic and modern tie-in with the Netherlands opposed to the traditional red, white and blue of their flag.
The final direction depicted a dynamic yet simple abstraction of data replication which inspired subsequent iconography. Infographics became a large part of the communication, featured across all forms of branded media. Hundreds of individual icons evolved from the main logoform to help explain the function and mechanics of a rather complex platform.
A secondary color palette was chosen to complement the vibrant orange. Desaturated blues, greens, purples, and many forms of warm and cool grays facilitated tertiary content, allowing bright whites and orange to provide emphasis.
To add another layer, a series of abstract yet cohesive enhanced graphics were created to symbolize and support featured messaging. The somewhat nebulous nature of the subject matter was depicted through subtle lighting effects and dramatic selective focus which, when juxtaposed with the 2-dimensional icons, added a subtle layer of depth to the predominantly graphic brand.
